Beware of the Tanzania airport tax.
When departing Tanzania airports an airport tax applies.
An airport tax of $30 USD applies to all international flights.
An airport tax of 5,000 TSH applies to all domestic flights.
If the Tanzania airport tax is not included in the price of your ticket, the airport tax must be paid in cash at the airport before departure.
NB: Make sure to bring USD or TSH with you to the airport, as airport exchange rates are notoriously bad.

The Tanzania currency is the Tanzanian shilling (TSH).
One Tanzanian shilling is further broken down into cents.
Each shilling is comprised of 100 cents.
Tanzanian shillings come in note denominations of 10,000, 5,000, 1,000, 500, 200 and 100.
Tanzanian shillings come in coin denominations of 100, 50, 20, 10 and 5 cents.
You can get Tanzania currency at ATMs in Tanzania, or you can use a money exchange office in your home country or when you arrive.
Make sure to check rates for money changing in Tanzania so that you get a fair price if you buy Tanzania currency.
