Flights from Zanzibar to Kilimanjaro

Flights from Zanzibar to Kilimanjaro airport are the easiest way of getting from the relaxation of the islands to the adventures of climbing Mount Kilimanjaro.

All flights to Kilimanjaro require a layover in Dar es Salaam. Flights leave from Kisauni Airport, which is located on Zanzibar’s Unguja island. Most people refer to Kisauni as Zanzibar International Airport, which has an IATA code of ZNZ. It is situated slightly south of Stone Town. After the layover, flights touch down at Kilimanjaro International Airport near Mount Kilimanjaro. This airport has an IATA code of JRO.

The scheduled flying time on flights from Zanzibar to Kilimanjaro is 2 hours and 30 minutes, including the layover. While flight prices fluctuate throughout the year, a one-way flight usually costs around US$200, and a round-trip flight normally costs around US$325.

There is only one airline that operates flights on this route. It is called Precision Air, and unfortunately it doesn’t have the best reputation. The airline is notorious for overbooking flights and bumping passengers to later departures without letting them know ahead of time.

To avoid this happening to you, there are two things you should do. First, call Precision Air the day before your flight from Zanzibar to Kilimanjaro to reconfirm your booking. Second, show up at the airport at least three hours in advance to get your boarding pass and make sure that you have a seat on your scheduled flight.

Flights from Kilimanjaro to Zanzibar are a great way to get from Africa’s highest peak to Tanzania’s most stunning island chain. A relaxing beach holiday is the perfect antidote to the exhaustion of climbing a mountain, and Zanzibar doesn’t disappoint.

Some flights are direct, while others require a layover in Dar es Salaam. All flights from Kilimanjaro to Zanzibar take off from Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO). They land at Kisauni Airport on Unguja island, which is also named Zanzibar International Airport (ZNZ). Kisauni Airport is situated just south of Stone Town, the biggest and most well-known town in the archipelago.

The flight time on this route is 1 hour and 10 minutes on direct flights, making the trip quick and simple. Flight prices vary, but you can expect to pay around US$200 for a one-way ticket and US$325 for a round-trip ticket.

The one downside of flights to Zanzibar is that there is only one airline that operates on the route, and it is not very reliable. The airline is called Precision Air, and it has a bad reputation for overbooking flights. Instead of asking for volunteers to give up their seats and fly on a later flight, Precision Air rebooks passengers automatically without notifying them.

In light of this, make sure to call the day before to reconfirm your flight from Kilimanjaro to Zanzibar and arrive at the airport very early to ensure that you are not bumped to a later departure. If you have a connecting flight in Zanzibar, take care to leave yourself a connection time of at least a day.
