The only way to get from Dakar to the famous Ile de Goree (Goree Island) is to take a ferry.
Ferries from Dakar to the Ile de Goree depart regularly from the port at the southeastern tip of the Dakar peninsula.
The ferry journey takes around 20 minutes and offers great views of the island and Dakar.
Make sure to arrive a few minutes before the departure to buy your tickets at the ticket office.
If you arrive more than a few minutes early, you can entertain yourself by shopping at the souvenir shops in the port building and just outside of it.
